Reed is an ex-army man as well as an MIT engineer. Hence, he understood the importance of a multi-kit like GRIPsher since he was faced with many tricky situations on the field many times. He used his expertise to develop this robust handy tool. Reed conceptualized the idea of this tool when he was deployed in Operation Enduring Freedom. After 50 revisions, the tool was prototyped in stainless steel and it was ready as the GRIPsher we know today.
