3D Printed GRIPsher -The New Multi-Tool for Odd Jobs

How many times have you wished for a tool that performs multiple tasks like that of a screwdriver, can opener, wire cutter, or nail gripper? These little tools are never handy when we actually need them. Christian Reed is an army veteran who has 3D printed a multi-tool named GRIPsher. The handy tool can perform over a dozen functions and is convenient enough to be attached to a keychain.

The GRIPsher is a unique one-of-a-kind tool which has no match. It can perform construction, assembly, and tinkering jobs. The tool is just an extension of your hand and can perform complex functions with sheer ease.

Some of the functions that the GRIPsher can perform are –

• BOTTLE OPENER
• WIRE STRIPPER
• HEX BIT HOLDER
• THICKNESS GAUGE
• WIRE CUTTER
• PLIER
• KNIFE
• ADJUSTABLE HEX WRENCH
• MINI PHILIPS HEAD
• CLIPPERS METAL DEBURRING
• SLOT WRENCH
• PRY BAR
• CLAMP HOLDER
• EYEGLASS SCREWDRIVER
• LARGE FLAT HEAD

The multitude of the GRIPsher’s work zone is huge. It can even perform furniture assembly and can be used in the military fields for quick fixes. The placement of the gadgets in the multi-tool has been meticulously planned. It can be kept in your pocket, purse or fits on the belt loop, bag or keychain easily.

Reed is an ex-army man as well as an MIT engineer. Hence, he understood the importance of a multi-kit like GRIPsher since he was faced with many tricky situations on the field many times. He used his expertise to develop this robust handy tool. Reed conceptualized the idea of this tool when he was deployed in Operation Enduring Freedom. After 50 revisions, the tool was prototyped in stainless steel and it was ready as the GRIPsher we know today.
