3d printing softwaresThere are many softwares that are readily available for 3D modelling some are commercial and some are for free, Below is the list of softwares that can be downloaded for free.

Google sketchup – This is a fun and free software and easy to use. There is an online open source library of  free model assemblies (e.g., windows, doors, automobiles, etc, 3D Warehouse, to which users may contribute  models. The program includes drawing layout functionality, allows surface rendering in       variable “styles”, supports third-party “plug-in” programs hosted on a site called Extension Warehouse to    provide other capabilities (e.g., near photo-realistic rendering,) and enables placement of its models     within Google Earth.

3Dtin – Simplest 3D software and you can draw from your browser.

OpenSCAD – OpenSCAD is a software for creating solid 3D CAD models. It is free software and available for Linux/UNIX, Windows and Mac OS X. Unlike most free software for creating 3D models (such as Blender) it does not focus on the artistic aspects of 3D modelling but instead on the CAD aspects. Thus it might be the application you are looking for when you are planning to create 3D models of machine parts but pretty sure is not what you are looking for when you are more interested in creating computer-animated movies.

Tinkercad – Tinkercad is a simple, online 3D design and 3d printing tool for the masses. Whether you’re a designer, hobbyist, teacher, or kid, you can use Tinkercad to make toys, prototypes, home decor, Minecraft models, jewelry  the list is truly endless. Also with only three useful tools we can create a wide range of models and once you have created the model you can simply download the STL file and start your 3D print.

Apart from these free softwares there are commercially used 3D modelling softwares they are AutoCAD, ProE ,Maya and SolidWorks.
