About Nylon

Nylon Grades available

GradeDescriptionProcessAdvantage
Nylon 6High chemical and heat resistance, and is stiff enough to retain its shape, but tough enough not to permanently deform under loadCNC Machining, Injection MoldingCircuit insulation boards. Switchgear. Rotor slot wedges. Gears. Wear strips & Chain guards. Machine guards
Nylon 66Nylon 6/6 has high mechanical strength and rigidity. It is resistant to chemicals and is stable at high temperatures.CNC Machining, Injection MoldingGears, Firearm components, Automotive engine compartments.
Nylon 11A fine bioplastic polyamide derived from castor oil. CNC Machining, Injection MoldingChemical resistance, Low water absorption, Low environmental impact.
Nylon 12Nylon 12 is a synthetic 3D printed polymer material that’s strong, durable and also has some flex to it. As a result, Nylon is a great material choice for snap fits, brackets, clips, and spring feature3D Printing (SLS/MJF), CNC MachiningNearly Isotropic Parts Built Without Supports, Allowing for Complex Geometries Durable Production-Grade Thermoplastic
Nylon 12 GF20% Glass-Filled Nylon is much stiffer and has greater tensile strength than standard Nylon. It also has a low coefficient of friction and high thermal resistance.3D Printing, CNC MachiningHigh Rigidity, Resistant To Wear & Tear, Thermally Resilient

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Nylon 11 is derived from castor oils and Nylon 12 comes from butadiene. Nylon 12 has a slightly lower melting point and density and Nylon 12 performs better at high temperatures and has superior UV resistance.

For complex geometries SLS nylon is cheaper & faster.

For simple geometries CNC machining is cheaper & faster.

Nylon 4,6 has highest melting point 295°C & Max Service
Temperature of 166°C

High performance polymers are thermoplastic polymers with high mechanical, thermal and chemical performance with innumerable uses. In fact, they can replace metals such as bronze, brass, stainless steel and aluminum alloys.

OUR VALUABLE

Clients

Think3D has been a great partner for us in supplying COVID-19 test cartridges on-time despite the pandemic challenges. When we came up with a new requirement needing a workforce of more than 25 people, think3D took up the challenge and arranged the workforce within 2 days. I highly recommend think3D for any manufacturing needs.

As a professor doing research on new materials, I needed a strong industry partner to assist us. think3D perfectly fit that bill. think3D team is highly knowledgeable on all manufacturing technologies and the team is very prompt in responding to all our requests. My research has been very successful, thanks to think3D team.

Dr. Karthik Chetan V
Asst. Professor, BITS Pilani

We found issue with one part at the time of assembly and needed a quick replacement. think3D team has quickly responded to our request, redesigned the part and printed it using metal 3D Printing and delivered in 3 days time. The part came out really well and the design was better than that of the actual one.
