CNC Milling

CNC milling is a specific form of computer numerical controlled (CNC) machining. Milling itself is a machining process similar to both drilling and cutting, and able to achieve many of the operations performed by cutting and drilling machines. Like drilling, milling uses a rotating cylindrical cutting tool. We have CNC Milling machines from various brands namely DMG Mori, ACE, STM, HAAS.

CNC Turning

CNC turning is an intricate and detailed method of creating custom parts and components using a lathe. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) turning is a highly skilled, Precision Engineering process. The turning lathe secures and rotates the stock, or raw material, being machined along a dual axis of movement at high speeds, resulting in the desired component being created. At THINK3D, we have CNC Turning machines from ACE, Mazak to provide best-in-class CNC Turning service. We also have CNC TurnMill in the shop floor.

CNC 5-Axis Machining

5-axis machining entails the use of computer numeric control to move a workpiece along five different axes simultaneously. This allows a level of high-precision machining of very complex parts that is far beyond what other machining techniques can provide. 5-axis CNC machining produces the smooth surface finish that is essential for many manufacturing applications and provides superior results at an extremely affordable price point.

CNC Turn Mill

CNC TurnMill is a multi-task CNC machine that can perform high performance turning and milling operations simultaneously on the  main and sub-spindle. At THINK3D, we have MAZAK TurnMill machine in-house to take up various turn-mill operations.

Think3D has been a great partner for us in supplying COVID-19 test cartridges on-time despite the pandemic challenges. When we came up with a new requirement needing a workforce of more than 25 people, think3D took up the challenge and arranged the workforce within 2 days. I highly recommend think3D for any manufacturing needs.

Sanket Srivatsav
Production In-Charge, Molbio

As a professor doing research on new materials, I needed a strong industry partner to assist us. think3D perfectly fit that bill. think3D team is highly knowledgeable on all manufacturing technologies and the team is very prompt in responding to all our requests. My research has been very successful, thanks to think3D team.

Dr. Karthik Chetan V
Asst. Professor, BITS Pilani

We found issue with one part at the time of assembly and needed a quick replacement. think3D team has quickly responded to our request, redesigned the part and printed it using metal 3D Printing and delivered in 3 days time. The part came out really well and the design was better than that of the actual one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Batch production is a method whereby the components of an item are produced in separate stages on separate machines to create different batches of products. Using CNC machines for batch production can streamline the workflow because of the reliability, accuracy, and speed of CNC-based manufacturing.
  • Electronics Parts Manufacturing.
  • Engraving Machine Applications.
  • Machining Composites.
  • 5 Axis Machining.
  • Dental Milling Applications.
  • Micro Hole Drilling.
  • Machining Aluminum.
  • Machining Plastics.

There are basically five different types of CNC machines:

  • CNC Plasma Cutting Machine.
  • CNC Laser Cutting Machine.
  • CNC Milling Machine.
  • CNC Router Machine.
  • CNC Lathe Machine.
Injection molding is a manufacturing process in which parts are produced by injecting material in liquid form into a mold. It is most commonly performed with thermoplastic polymers, but can be used with a variety of other materials to include metals and glass.
Injection molding machines are able to process two or more different plastics at the same time. The initial creation of a mold can be expensive. For this reason, large production runs using plastic machining can cost up to 25 times more than plastic injection molding.
It is the pressure on the face of the injection screw or ram when injecting material into the mold, usually expressed in PSI.
There are two primary types of plastics: thermosets and thermoplastics. The main difference between these two types of plastics is that thermosets permanently cure.
A wide variety of finishes are available for vacuum castings. Pigments/tints in the resins, bead blast, painting, surface textures, vacuum metalising, electroplating.
Short batch production, or when both aesthetics and functionality are required. Clear parts and also rubbers of varying Shore A harnesses can be produced using this process. There is no need for hard tooling with this process, so huge cost savings can be achieved if the quantities are suitable.

We offer CNC Routing, EDM finishing, laser cutting services

There are three main types of lasers used in laser cutting. The CO2 laser is suited for cutting, boring, and engraving. The neodymium (ND) and neodymium yttrium-aluminum-garnet (ND-YAG) lasers are identical in style and differ only in application. ND is used for boring and where high energy but low repetition are required. The ND-YAG laser is used where very high power is needed and for boring and engraving. Both CO2 and ND/ ND-YAG lasers can be used for welding.
