Ultimaker 3 Extended is a newly launched desktop 3D printer provides reliable dual extrusion with soluble support material, swappable print cores and wireless control. It has material recognition with NFC scanner and live camera monitoring. The printer supports STL, OBJ files as well as the new 3MF format.
Ultimaker 3 Extended is a newly launched desktop 3D printer with a dual extrusion system for printing two materials at once. It also gets WiFi and Ethernet support. Build volume of the Ultimaker 3 is 215 x 215 x 300 mm when printing with a single extruder and while using dual extrusion in the Ultimaker 3 the build volume narrows down to 197 x 215 x 300 mm. It offers a “smart material detection”. This means if we insert a special material spool containing a NFC chip and the printer is ready to go. Max resolution is 20 microns and the printer supports STL, OBJ files as well 3MF.
Build volume of 215 x 215 x 300 mm
Layer resolution up to 20 micron for 0.4 mm nozzle
Ultimaker 3 Extended has a build volume of 215 x 215 x 300 mm.
Can PolyCarbonate (PC) be printed on Ultimaker 3 Extended
Yes, PolyCarbonate can be printed on Ultimaker 3 Extended. Printing with PC requires a nozzle temperature of 260 degrees C. Ultimaker 3 Extended can go upto a temperature of 280 degrees C. So, PC can be printed on Ultimaker 3 Extended
Which nozzle should I use for PVA?
PVA should only be run through the BB nozzle.
Can I turn my STL file into a dual extrusion file in Cura?
If you're looking to print with two different color materials, you're going to need to start with two files. If you want to create a print with dissolvable supports, Cura can generate the support material.
What material will PVA stick to?
Currently, the PLA/PVA and Nylon/PVA prints are supported PVA combinations. You can try using other filaments with your PVA, but, the PVA may not adhere to them as well, and you could end up causing damage to your printer if they come off the bed.
Why can't I view my printer's camera feed or control the printer outside the network?
The printer's wifi functions are all designed to work on a local network for security purposes, so you will only be able to view the camera feed in Cura, or control the printer (pause a print, etc.) if you are on the same network. If (for example) your printer is at the office, and it's critical that you be able to view the live feed or control it from home, we recommend setting up a VPN to remotely view or control your printer.
Ultimaker brand 3D printers are known their reliability and high quality prints.
